Lion Dancing performance from kids from Niuhu Community in Guanlan Sub District Office
In the afternoon of December 17th, the “Innovative December” activity of Guanlan Sub-district Office was held in the outdoor entertainment square of Mission Hills Hall. The unique Hakka folk songs and dance performances attracted the mass.
It is learnt that there are two adult lion dancing team from Dabuxiang Street Office and Guangpei Communigy, and two kid lion dancing teams from Junzibu Community and Niuhu Communigy. Guanlan Youth Folk Song team, Guanlan Elderly Association and the Shanshuitianyuan Tourism Cultural Garden performed new version of Hakka folk songs and the traditional Hakka folk songs, which won bursts of applause.
In addition, the Guanlan Office also invited the Shenzhen National Ethnic Song and Dance Emble to perform Hakka dance "Hakka Welcoming", which excited the audience. The dancing performance "Kids Lion Dance" from kids lion dancing team from Niuhu Communigy, Guanlan Youth Folk Song team’s “Guanlan, the Beautiful New Home" won silver award in Guangdong Province Intangible Cultural Heritage activities.
It was learnt that Guanlan lion dance and Hakka folk songs have more than 300 years of history. It was passed down from generation to generation. It embodied the life style, history change and development of Hakka culture in Guanlan It was included in the province and national intangible cultural heritage protection list. Guanlan Party Working Committee started the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Project" in early 2016, and put lion dance in the list. It is one of the priority project of the office. The office purchased all new equipment for lion dance for the three communities, and hired professional coach for the teams. In the meantime, the establishment of the two kids lion dance teams and Youth Hakka Folk Song Team the Guanlan intangible culture heritage.
