Mingzhi Volunteers Built the First Three-Dimensional Traffic Hub in Shenzhen Northern Station

  In the 10th anniversary of the Volunteer Award, Mingzhi Volunteers were recognized as 2016 Shenzhen A Hundred Outstanding  Volunteers.

  Since the establishment of the Volunteer Service Center in September 2006, it has been 10 years. The team grew from around 20 members at first, to a group of 43,000 people. There are a total of 104 volunteer teams. Volunteering became a habit, or a way of life. Volunteer, mutual help spirit has taken root in the people’s mindset.

  In the afternoon of December 4, half an hour before the 31st International Volunteer Day, volunteers were busy in the venue for the final preparations. For all of us, this is a special occasion to celebrate and commemorate. While Tang Zubin, who was responsible for volunteer service center recalled a decade ago when the Volunteer Team was formed: around 20 members were divided into four service groups. At the beginning, everyone was enthusiastic about trying to carry out various activities and services.

  After ten years, as the end of August 2016, the registered volunteers amounted to 43,330 with 104 service teams, among which 12 were named the provincial five-star volunteers and 156 as municipal five-star volunteers. In 2016, there were 22 volunteers from Longhua who were selected to be among A Hundred Outstanding Volunteers in Shenzhen, 19 of which were from Mingzhi.

  Tang Zubin said that the development of the volunteer team should be attributed to three words: meticulous, personalization, and modest. The management should be refined; service work deficiencies should be found out in a timely manner, to make volunteer service more efficient, more professional, more cohesive and vivid in team. Volunteers are devotees, service providers. However, volunteers would encounter difficulties or need someone else's care. Tang Zubin said, the annual activities to appreciate volunteers would also provide care immediately to volunteers in need of help. The immediate action would be considered as “personalization”. “Inclusive" is to encourage the different personality, age, different volunteers to use their talents, to provide growth and progress of space.

  Establish “Six Station Six Teams” Volunteer Group, The First Three-Dimensional Traffic Hub in the Country.

  Shenzhen Northern Station is the window of the city.  The average daily traffic is more than 50 million passengers. In this modern large-scale transport hub, the Mingzhi Volunteers has found a three-dimensional, refined service model, which attracted both domestic and foreign volunteers in transportation field study and learn from them. Even volunteers from Hong Kong, who are famous around the world, were amazed by volunteers at Northern Station.

  Nvorthern Station had a huge area, with various kinds of exports and intensive traffic. It might be confusing for passengers. Over the years, through continuous exploration and innovation, Volunteer Service Center in the Northern Station establishes a three-dimensional, sophisticated service network.  "Six Stations Six Teams" volunteer groups covered the key service areas of the site.

  The "Six Stations” set up five U stations and one S stations at A1 exit, A2 exit, subway hall, high-speed rail waiting room, and West Plaza. These "sites" are small, but "fully equipped". Volunteers are there to answer questions from the passengers, and provide free fixed telephone, cell phone charger, emergency medicine box, and umbrellas. The "Six Teams" refers to party members volunteer team, traffic manner volunteers, publicity service team, emergency patrol volunteer team, U Cai volunteer team, and foreign language service volunteer team. There is a total of more than 2,100 people.

  In October 2016, the General Branch Committee of the Communist Youth League of South University of Science and Technology College- Shue Yan College Shenzhen cooperated with Mingzhi Sub-district Office to set up a social practice base at Northern Station U Station. Since then, more than 600 students from Shue Yan College of will come to the Northern Station for volunteering.

  In the Future 10 Years, Continue to Expand the Field of Innovative Forms of Service

  In the afternoon of Dec. 4, Mingzhi volunteers celebrated it 10th anniversary and also the 31st International Volunteer Day. They performed in the event, including singing, dancing, or recitation. Volunteers were all with a confident smile for this special moment to send blessings for the future.

  "Helping others makes ourselves happy. Being volunteers brought me more wealth of spirit. I would like to continue!" Mingzhi has a great foundation for public welfare service. Volunteering has become people’s habit.

  Looking into the future, the director of Mingzhi Pary Working Committee said that with volunteer service would develop  on the basis of the original volunteer service. They would continue to expand service areas; innovative forms of volunteer service; deepen and expand volunteer service content; and make  "dedication, friendship, mutual benefit,  progress” the spirit of volunteering.
