18th China Hi-Tech Fair Kicks off in Shenzhen

  On November 16, the annual China High-tech Fair once again kicked-off in the Convention and Exhibition Center. The Fair has been 18 years old. After so many years, thousands of enterprises in Shenzhen grew with the fair. The overall innovation environment was boosted by the fair.

  Longhua New District is no exception. Under the country’s " encourage people to do business creatively and drive innovation" and the Longhua New District’s generous policy support and guidance as well as its location advantages, enterprises in Longhua New District enjoy the most favorable conditions. A group of data show that as of September 2016, the number of National High-tech enterprises in Longhua New District increased to 702, with an increase of 19.39%; it is expected to reach 1188 by the end the year, which would be ranked as the third in Shenzhen. At present, the Longhua New District has 81 national, provincial, municipal and district-level innovation platforms, including one state-level enterprise technology center, two provincial engineering centers, as well as 34 municipal engineering centers and key laboratories. In this fair, Longhua New District set up its booth in the 1 exhibition hall in the Convention and Exhibition Center, to promote its high-quality innovative enterprises and their products. It also created a special area for a Talent Wall to highlight the power of talent and pay tribute to talents in Longhua New District.

  Three Functional Areas and Talent Wall

  When you enter the main exhibition hall of Longhua New Area, dancing robots would be the first ones to welcome you. It won the first prize in the Longhua Youth Innovation Competition.

  After being greeted by a small robot, a luminous glass platform which demonstrated the rail route of metro line 4 in Longhua New District connected the various booths. The exhibition area of ??136 square meters was divided into three functional zones in the order of "Central Axis, New City, and Dragon Dance". The first functional area, was a display of Longhua New District with a large LED screen and a large poster on the scene. We could see a modern and innovative international new city was under construction in Longhua New District. In addition, it shows its features of being energetic, strong industrial, livable urban, harmonious new "one city four districts" construction achievements, as well as Longhua New District’s rapid development.

  The second functional area demonstrated key enterprises and Makers in Longhua New District. The fair, Longhua New District arranged a series of 28 companies and five Maker exhibitors in the fair site, and another six through the multimedia form, which included 11 fortune 100 enterprises, 7 national high-tech enterprises, one innovative startup group, and two national Maker space from Longhua New District. It is worth mentioning that the exhibitors in the main venue included both famous enterprises, such as Foxconn Group's Fu Tai Wah Industrial (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. - Laser Technology Development and Application Center, Hong Fu Jin Precision Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. – The Center for Plastic, and enterprises undergoing research and development or just entering the sales stage, such as Shenzhen Duoyi Innovation and Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Kongque Technology Development Co., Ltd. It was worth mentioning that the up to 63 companies Longhua New District enterprises actively participated in their own exhibitors. It was not only necessary to boost key enterprises continuing to move towards a higher level, but also to support small and medium enterprises to expand. It has been one of the principles of Longhua New District to help enterprises. In this fair, small and medium enterprises of Longhua New District demonstrated their achievements. Both large enterprises feel the impact of the vitality of small and medium enterprises, but also allow small and medium enterprises to experience the nourishment of large enterprises.

  In recent years, innovation enterprises in Longhua New District has been experiencing explosive growth. The results are eye-catching, where the power of talent is the essential contributor. It was learnt that four years, Longhua New District introduced two foreign academicians, a talent from the national "thousands people plan", four talents from Guangdong Province "Pearl River Plan", 91 talents from Shenzhen "Peacock Plan”, and 302 high-level professionals. It introduced 12 provincial and municipal innovation startup teams. It was ranked as second in the Shenzhen Municipal. It has two post-doctoral workstations, and four post-doctoral innovation base. To pay tribute to these talents, Longhua New District’s third functional area was specifically defined as - Talent Wall display area. In this area, it featured talents from “thousands people plan” and leaders from provincial innovation and entrepreneurial teams, including Mao Sheng, the Shenzhen "Peacock" team leader and a well-known expert of new energy (new materials) field, as well as Zhou Guofu and 16 other talents from the national "thousands people plan", leading talent in Guangdong Province, and the international green optoelectronic materials and devices (new display technology). The region will tell you what is "talent is the foundation of a nation, the prosperity of business."

  The current fair, Longhua New District also set up a lot of interactive sessions. In addition to small robots, there were Mango Players and other high-tech game machines can let you walking around while playing them.

  Innovation-Driven Enterprises to Expand

  Despite the complexity of the external environment and the pressure from national economy, the Longhua New District's economy is running smoothly. In 2015, Longhua New District GDP was 163.6 billion yuan, with an increase of 8%, which was ranked the first in four new districts. It was larger than around one-third of the cities in Guangdong Province. From January to September 2016, the GDP of the Longhua New District reached RMB131.021 billion, up by 7.2% year-on-year.

  Innovation is undoubtedly a driving force of economy of Longhua New District, and an important starting point for Longhua New Area to support enterprises to expand.

  Soon after, there might be nine companies becoming the first beneficiaries of Longhua New District technology "incubation loan" and "growth loan". SME have financing difficulties, which resulted in the abortion of good innovative ideas because of the lack of financial support. In order to solve the financing difficulties of small and medium enterprises, the loan difficult problem, Longhua New District Economic Services Bureau specially developed technology finance program, and introduced "technology loan" "growth loan", to leverage social capital for the development of small and medium enterprises. In 2016, Longhua New District arranged 10 million yuan risk compensation for the two loans, which was expected to leverage 500 million yuan of social capital.

  Driven by innovative thinking, this is only one of the methods that Longhua District adopted to solve development problems, based on its reality. In view of the lack of innovative resources, Longhua New District paid close attention to policy support. The introduction of "Several Methods to Promote Scientific and Technological Innovation to Enhance the Competitiveness of Enterprises" and "1 +7" industry support policies. In 2016, only 200 million yuan of special funds for technological innovation would be provided, and all elements would be placed on innovation chain, such as Maker Space, incubator, accelerator, R & D organization, innovation body and technology finance.

  Through active cooperation with the outside scientific research institutions, industry associations, Longhua New District was able to meet its technology enterprises’ needs of innovation. At present, Longhua has cooperated with Shenzhen Research Institute of Peking University, Comprehensive Development Research Institute (China Shenzhen), Huading Science and Technology Development Research Institute and Qianjing Technology Innovation Research Institute to carry out research, training, statistics and science and technology projects. In addition, Longhua New District also cooperated with the Shenzhen New Materials Association SME Service Center, Sai Xinrui Technology Innovation Center and other service agencies, to undertake the transfer of government functions, and actively carry out SMEs and professional services to accelerate the Longhua’s training, transformation and upgrading.

  In addition, Longhua New District attached great importance to the construction of innovation carrier; adhered to the "government-led, social investment" ideas; drove social forces to broad participation in innovation carrier construction. In 2016, the Longhua New District had three state-level public space, two city-level guest room, four guest service platforms, two incubators, nine district-level guest workshops, seven incubators and one accelerator.

  From January to September 2016, Longhua New District above-scale industrial reached an added value of 66.28 billion yuan, with an increase of 2.7%.

  Under normal circumstances, the amount of patent applications reflects the technical development of a region. The greater the number of patent applications, the greater the innovation capacity of a region, the more dynamic society. According to statistics, in 2016 Longhua New patent applications experienced a huge increase. There were 9736 patent applications in Longhua New District from January to September, with an increase of 29.21%; the number of patent licensing grew to 5992, with an increase of 16.08%.
