  Q: Why do foreign employers need to leave China for a month after staying in China for 5 yars?

  A: It is not a requirement from the exit-entry administration but from the tax department. According to Chinese tax law, foreigners who have worked in China for five years need to leave the country for one month to restart the calculation of income tax. Not leaving will result in higher tax rates.
